Gospel Greats Top 20 CountdownOn the weekend of November 24th … it’s Paul’s official monthly Singing News Top 20 Countdown Edition, based this time on the magazine’s chart of radio favorites appearing in the December edition.

Jeff & Sheri - Eyes Wide OpenAnd, his Featured Artists on this program will be Jeff & Sheri Easter. You’ll hear their current Top 20 song, “Over The Mountain,” plus three songs from their new Eyes Wide Open CD. Jeff will explain why one of the songs on there is extra special to him because of who sings it with him. You’ll hear a song Sherri wrote, and find out why so much of their ministry these days builds on lessons learned during her now-past bout with breast cancer. And you’ll hear a song from the “next generation” of Jeff & Sheri Easter music.

Plus, you’ll also hear from Jerry Pelfrey (Gold City), Sonya Browder (Browders), Doug Roark (Old Paths), Susan Jackson (Karen Peck & New River), Robbie Maxwell (New Ground), Jason Crabb, and Jeff Chapman (Kingdom Heirs).

Looking Ahead: On the first four weekends in December, the Gospel Greats will be devoted entirely to Christmas music and related features. Be sure to plan to listen all through the Christmas season.

GG's - Thanks logoOn the weekend of November 17th … it’ll be Paul’s annual Thoughts of Thanks edition, coming as it does just before the United States celebrates Thanksgiving Day. All of his songs and all of the artist comments will be expressions of thanks to God for His many blessings.

Hear expressions of thanks from such artists as Mike Bowling (Bowlings), Ed O’Neal (Dixie Melody Boys), Jodi Hosterman (Inspirations), Jeremie Hudson (Three Bridges), Connie Hopper (Hoppers), Taranda Greene, Ivan Parker, Paul Harkey (Ernie Haase & Signature Sound), Debra Talley (Talleys), Shelly Brown (Browns), Jason Crabb, Chad Smith (Driven Quartet), Lily Isaacs and Sonya Yeary (Isaacs), Anthony Davis (Tribute Quartet), and Bryan Hutson (Soul’d Out Quartet).

Yes … do let these expressions of thanks remind you of the many things for which you, too, will want to give thanks.

won-by-one(2012)Cathedrals - Chicago CDOn the broadcast for the weekend of November 10th, Paul writes: This program will be a very special treat for any long-time Southern Gospel music lover. Our Featured Artists will be none other than the legendary Cathedrals! Yes, although the group retired at the end of 1999, Ernie Haase (a member of the group back then) has found a previously-unreleased recording of a live-in-concert radio broadcast from 1996. You’ll hear the group — George, Glen, Scott, Ernie and Roger — as you remember them in concert from that era. The CD is called Cathedrals – Live In Chicago, and it will definitely be a treat for Cathedrals fans. The songs, the jokes, the banter — it’s all there.

Plus, Paul’s special guest will be Greg Shockley, who’ll tell why he resurrected the “Won By One” name (a group he was in until it disbanded more than a decade ago) for his new family group, singing with his wife, son and daughter, and another couple.

And, there’s more … as you’ll hear from Dennis Humphries (of HisSong about the lingering effects of being pistol-whipped in June), Doug Anderson (about his plans for another solo CD), Brenda Denney (of 2nd Generation about her big win on the Price Is Right), Reagan Riddle (of Primitive Quartet about a special new live recording they have planned)!

Tribute Quartet - Our Anthem CDPaul’s Featured Artists on this program for the weekend of November 3rd are the members of the Tribute Quartet with songs from their new CD entitled Our Anthem. You’ll find out why they chose such an unusual song as Homesick Angel for their current radio release. You’ll hear an outstanding song called The Song Of Heaven, along with a song of encouragement, The Time Is Now, and others, as Paul visits with Gary, Josh, Riley and Anthony.

In a Songwriter Spotlight segment, Paul will have three songs from the Singing News Fan Awards “Favorite Songwriter” for 2012, Rodney Griffin. These are songs he wrote that have been recorded recently by top groups other than his own (Greater Vision). You’ll find the stories behind these songs most interesting.

Finally, you’ll hear chats with Paul Harkey, the new bass singer with Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, and find out why joining this group was, for him, a long-time ambition, plus Bill Gaither and Dean Hopper.

Dianne Wilkenson

Dianne Wilkenson

On this special edition for the weekend of October 20th, Paul’s Featured Artist throughout the first hour will be one of today’s most prolific and in-demand Southern Gospel songwriters, Dianne Wilkinson. She wrote two songs that have reached the number one chart position this year alone — Peter, James & John and Tell Me Why. She’ll also tell you the inspiration behind some of her other current hits, such as “We Will Stand Our Ground,” Jesus Will and Don’t Start Doubting Now. You’ll also hear new songs of hers from the Tribute Quartet, the Talleys, the Lefevre Quartet and others. And on the Headline Update you’ll hear about a brand new book that’s out that tells Dianne’s interesting life story. It’s all happening on the first hour of this weekend’s broadcast.

And, during the entire second hour of this program, Paul will spotlight the recent 2012 Singing News Fan Awards. You’ll hear edited versions of the winner announcements and acceptances. And we’ll include recorded music by the winners. You’ll also hear who the “big winners” were in this year’s balloting. (Note: The Singing News Fan Awards, as is the case with all such awards programs, merely give fans of the music a chance to encourage their favorite artists through their votes. It’s a way to say “keep up the good work!”)
