GVB - Pure & SimpleFor the weekend of January 12th … Paul’s Featured Artists on this first “regular” edition of 2013 will be the Gaither Vocal Band, with songs from their new CD, “Pure And Simple.” He’ll visit with all five group members. You’ll learn why the CD title is so appropriate for what they hoped to accomplish with this recording. They’ll tell you all about their first radio single from this CD, a most unusual old song called “Rasslin’ Jacob.” You’ll also hear some new songs that made it to this recording.

As Paul’s had holiday specials for the past few weeks, there was no regular January Top 20 Countdown edition. So this program will include a Top 5 Mini-Countdown based on the January Singing News chart. You’ll find out why the new number one song — from artists who’ve been there many times before —is actually a “first” for them in several ways.

Finally, you’ll hear from these three gentlemen: Ronnie Booth (Booth Brothers) about a man, recently deceased, without whom “the Booth Brothers would not exist.” Gus Gaches of Legacy Five will talk about New Year’s resolutions. Dennis Humphries of HisSong will tell you what he learned from a very difficult 2012.

On the weekend of January 5th … this is the conclusion of Paul’s two-part year in review special, GOSPEL 2012 IN REVIEW. Across two programs — the last one and this one — Paul’s counting-down the 40 most popular Southern Gospel songs of 2012, based on charting points through the year for Singing News magazine’s monthly top-tunes chart. This edition will feature songs #20 through #1 for the year.

In addition, Paul talks with the artists and/or songwriters involved with every one of these songs for the stories behind those songs! You’ll find out which artists had multiple songs on the top 40 for the year and, of course, what the number one song for 2012 turned out to be!
