Sitting on the Promises? February 17, 2015

SAMSUNG Recently, a good friend of ours discovered their cat sitting on her Bible and just couldn’t resist taking this picture … and I couldn’t resist sharing it with you.

I know there’ll be those who will consider this improper treatment of the Scriptures. Yet, I’m not sure there’s much difference between sitting or standing when we reflect on the love of our Lord and His promise of eternal life … is there?

I say this because every time I think of this picture, this great old hymn fills my mind:

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God!

And, let this verse from Psalm 85 be our guide and our constant prayer:

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.

The Gospel Greats . . .

And … we must salute and honor Paul Heil – and his wife Shelia – on the celebration of 35 years of producing the Gospel Greats broadcasts. If you are a listener, I believe you’ll agree that the quality of production of each of the 52 new programs that Paul produces each year is simply top notch. That has been his commitment to the Lord and SouthernGG's - 35 years Gospel since the very first broadcast … to deliver a broadcast product that encompasses all the elements of music and news as relates to that music and the artists who create it.

 With fewer and fewer stations now airing the Gospel Greats, Paul and Shelia have seen their revenue shrink, yet they strain to make sure the program’s content does not suffer.

 The Springside ad at the bottom of this page is placed there with our hope that when it comes to buying Southern Gospel CD’s and DVD’s, you’ll consider ordering from Springside, which is an adjunct operation which hels support the Gospel Greats production.
